Hello!
I'm Susan, the founder and owner of Brown Beagle Books, a creative consultancy focused on general fiction and literature. I know what it's like to have an untold story inside of you, and there's nothing I love more than inspiring others to find their voice and share that story with the world.
From creative coaching for beginning writers to editorial development for those looking to polish their craft, these services are tailored specifically to meet your writing needs with positive reinforcement, expertise, and encouragement.
So, who am I?
I'm a lifelong writer and award-winning author who had once only dreamed of holding my own book in my hands. In 2013, I published my first fiction book, Gold in the Days of Summer (2014 International Rubery Book Award Children's category winner).
That same year, I began to build my business from the ground up. Through a lot of research (and many leaps of faith), I learned the ins and outs of publishing and knew I wanted to help others navigate this ever-changing landscape and fuel their love of writing.
I believe that everyone has a story to tell. I'd love to help you share yours.

What is Brown Beagle Books?
Brown Beagle Books is a creative consultancy specializing in general fiction and literature. I offer creative coaching, which focuses the client on specific aspects of their work; editorial development, where we dive deeper into the manuscript with professional editing and proofreading; and publishing consultation, where I help to determine if self-publishing is the best fit for the author's goals.
What's with the Beagle logo?
Isn't he fantastic? I decided to name my business after my two greatest passions: dogs and books. When I hired a friend to design the logo, I had two requirements:
1) have him leaning on a book
2) put his butt in the air
It's a play stance that my own beagles use frequently, and it still makes me giggle every time I look at it. Say hi to my own two beagle mixes, Riley and Moxie!
Riley
In June 2020, my beloved dog Riley, for whom Brown Beagle Books was named, passed away.
Brown Beagle Books continues in his honor.
