The Writer
You've got the dream: you have a story to tell and you want to share it with the world. But what does that entail, exactly? There's a little more to writing than the writing itself, and we'll give you the stuff that helps you see your book through to the final chapter.
In this four week package, we'll discuss what it means to be a writer, the business of books, how practice makes perfect (even in writing), and how to effectively manage your goals and time. Together, we'll define your vision and create a roadmap that enables you to hone your skills and make the most of your time.
The Storyteller
Storytelling is a gift passed down through the ages. From the spoken word to the written form, stories provide a means of entertainment, teach us about the world, preserve our cultural history, and, most importantly, show us who we are.
In this four week package, we'll identify the root of your story and learn what it is you really want to say. We'll define the key elements in order to add more depth and complexity while unearthing your strengths and weaknesses and learning how to build upon both. The package concludes with a Session Summary that outlines the topics above, tailored to fit you and your story.
The Craftsman
Writing a novel is a lot like putting together a puzzle: you need all of the pieces to complete the picture. In this case, the pieces are the basic elements of any story: Plot, Character, Setting, Point of View, and Dialogue.
This four week package offers an in-depth look at what it takes to create a great story while learning how to hone your craft and strengthen the writing muscle. Through exercises and brainstorming, we'll find out why these are important, identify the novel elements in your draft or idea, and lay the foundation for your novel. The package concludes with a Session Summary that outlines the topics above, tailored to fit you and your story, and offers exercises and worksheet supplements.
The Developer
You've got the draft. You've done the edits. You know what it takes to make a good novel great. So what's next? If the thought of sharing your words with the world terrifies you or you don't know how to take the next step, you're not alone. Finishing a draft is a great accomplishment, but actually publishing your book can seem a bit surreal and impossible.
In this four week course, we'll discover how you can make it possible. We'll learn how to build your network, find the best outlets for your author platform, and develop ways to keep that creativity flowing. As an added bonus, we'll talk about the fear of success and how it can hold you back in a free (optional) session. The package concludes with a Session Summary that outlines the topics above, tailored to fit you and your story, and additional resources for making the jump from writer to author.
